A Brazilian customer visited Yantian Port and Senghor Logistics’ warehouse, deepening partnership and trust
On July 18th, Senghor Logistics met our Brazilian customer and his family at the airport. Less than a year had passed since the customer's last visit to China, and his family had come with him during his children's winter break.
Because the customer often stays for extended periods, they visited many cities, including Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhangjiajie, and Yiwu.
Recently, as customer's freight forwarder, Senghor Logistics arranged an on-site visit to Yantian Port, a world-leading port, and our own warehouse. This trip was designed to allow the customer to experience firsthand the operational strength of China's core port and Senghor Logistics’ professional service capabilities, further solidifying the foundation of our partnership.
Visiting Yantian Port: Feeling the Pulse of a World-Class Hub
The customer's delegation first arrived at the Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) exhibition hall. Through detailed data presentations and professional explanations, customers gained a clear understanding.
1. Key geographical location: Yantian Port is located in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, in the core economic zone of South China, adjacent to Hong Kong. It is a natural deep-water port with direct access to the South China Sea. Yantian Port accounts for over one-third of Guangdong Province's foreign trade and is a vital hub for major international shipping routes, connecting major global markets such as the Americas, Europe, and Asia. With the rapid economic growth of Central and South American countries in recent years, the port is crucial for shipping routes to South America, such as the Port of Santos in Brazil.

2. Massive scale and efficiency: As one of the world's busiest container ports, Yantian Port boasts world-class deep-water berths capable of accommodating ultra-large container vessels (capable of accommodating six 400-meter-long "jumbo" vessels simultaneously, a capability only Shanghai has besides Yantian) and advanced quay crane equipment.
The exhibition hall showcased live demonstrations of port hoisting operations. The customers witnessed firsthand the port's bustling and orderly operations, with giant container ships efficiently loading and unloading, and automated gantry cranes operating swiftly. They were deeply impressed by the port's impressive throughput capacity and operational efficiency. The customer's wife also asked, "Are there no errors in the operations?" We replied “no”, and she again marveled at the precision of the automation. The guide highlighted the port's ongoing upgrades in recent years, including expanded berths, optimized operational processes, and the development of information technology, which have significantly improved vessel turnover and overall operational efficiency.
3. Comprehensive supporting facilities: The port is connected to a well-developed highway and railway network, ensuring rapid distribution of cargo to the Pearl River Delta and inland China, offering customers convenient multimodal shipping options. For example, goods produced in Chongqing would previously have to be shipped by Yangtze River barge to Shanghai, then loaded on ships from Shanghai for export, a process of barge that took approximately 10 days. However, using rail-sea intermodal transport, freight trains could be dispatched from Chongqing to Shenzhen, where they could then be loaded on ships for export, and the rail shipping time would be just 2 days. Furthermore, Yantian Port's extensive and fast shipping routes allow goods to reach North American, Central, and South American markets even more quickly.
The customer highly appreciated Yantian Port's scale, modernity, and strategic position as a key hub for China-Brazil trade, believing it provided solid hardware support and timeliness advantages for his cargo leaving China.
Visiting the Senghor Logistics’ Warehouse: Experiencing Professionalism and Control
The customer then visited Senghor Logistics' self-operated warehouse located in the logistics park behind Yantian Port.
Standardized operations: The customer observed the entire process of cargo receiving, warehousing, storage, sorting, and shipment. They focused on understanding the operational specifications for products of particular interest, such as electronics and high-value goods.
Control of key processes: Senghor Logistics team provided detailed explanations and on-site answers to specific customer requests (e.g., cargo security measures, storage conditions for special cargo, and loading procedures). For example, we demonstrated the warehouse's security system, the operation of specific temperature controlled areas, and how our warehouse staff ensures smooth loading containers.
Sharing logistics advantages: Based on the customer’s shared requirements for Brazilian import transportation, we engaged in pragmatic discussions on how to leverage Senghor Logistics’ resources and operational experience at the Shenzhen port to optimize the Brazilian shipping process, shorten overall logistics time, and mitigate potential risks.
The customer gave positive comments on Senghor Logistics’ warehouse's cleanliness, standardized operational procedures, and advanced information management. The customer was particularly reassured by the ability to visualize the operational processes through which their goods would likely flow. A supplier accompanying the visit also praised the warehouse's well-managed, clean, and tidy operations.
Deepening Understanding, Winning a Winning Future
The field trip was intense and fulfilling. The Brazilian client expressed that the visit was highly meaningful:
Seeing is believing: Instead of relying on reports or pictures, they experienced firsthand the operational capabilities of Yantian Port, a world-class hub, and Senghor Logistics’ expertise as a logistics partner.
Boosted confidence: The customer gained a clearer and more detailed understanding of the entire chain of operations (port operations, warehousing, and logistics) for shipping goods from China to Brazil, significantly strengthening their trust in Senghor Logistics’ freight service capabilities.
Pragmatic communication: we had a candid and in-depth discussion on practical operational details, potential challenges, and optimization solutions, paving the way for closer and more efficient future cooperation.
During lunch, we learned that the customer is a pragmatic and hardworking individual. Although he manages the company remotely, he is personally involved in product procurement and plans to expand his procurement volume in the future. The supplier remarked that the customer is very busy and often contacts her at midnight, which is 12:00 noon China time. This touched the supplier deeply, and both parties engaged in sincere discussions about cooperation. After lunch, the customer headed to the next supplier's location, and we wish him all the best.
Beyond work, we also interacted as friends and got to know each other's families. Since the children were on holiday, we took the customer’s family on a trip to Shenzhen's entertainment attractions. The children had a great time, made friends, and we were happy too.
Senghor Logistics thanks the Brazilian customer for his trust and visit. This trip to Yantian Port and the warehouse not only demonstrated the hard power of China's core logistics infrastructure and the soft power of Senghor Logistics, but was also an important journey of shared collaboration. The in-depth understanding and pragmatic communication between us based on field visits will surely push future cooperation into a new stage of greater efficiency and smoother progress.
