If the total weight of the container is equal to or exceeds 20 tons, an overweight surcharge of USD 200/TEU will be charged.

Starting from February 1, 2024 (loading date), CMA will charge an overweight surcharge (OWS) on the Asia-Europe route.

The specific charges are for cargo from Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, China, Hong Kong, China, Macau, China to Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Poland and the Baltic Sea. If the total weight of the container is equal to or exceeds 20 tons, an excess weight of US$200/TEU additional fee will be charged.

CMA CGM has previously announced that it will increase the freight rates (FAK) on the Asia-Mediterranean route from January 15, 2024, involving dry containers, special containers, reefer containers and empty containers.

Among them, the freight rates for the Asia-Western Mediterranean line have increased from US$2,000/TEU and US$3,000/FEU on January 1, 2024 to US$3,500/TEU and US$6,000/FEU on January 15, 2024, with an increase of up to 100%.

The freight rates for the Asia-Eastern Mediterranean route will increase from US$2,100/TEU and US$3,200/FEU on January 1, 2024 to US$3,600/TEU and US$6,200/FEU on January 15, 2024.

Generally speaking, there will be price increases before the Chinese New Year. Senghor Logistics usually reminds customers to make shipment plans and budgets in advance. In addition to the price increase before Chinese New Year, there are other reasons for the price increase, such as the overweight fee mentioned above, and the price increase caused by the Red Sea issue.

If you need to ship during this period, please ask us for the relevant fee composition. Senghor Logistics’ quotation is complete and every charge will be listed in detail. There are no hidden charges or other charges will be notified in advance. Welcome to consult.
