NEWS

Hello everyone, after the long Chinese New Year holiday, all Senghor Logistics employees have returned to work and continue to serve you.

Now we bring you the latest shipping industry news, but it doesn’t look positive.

According to Reuters, the Port of Antwerp in Belgium, Europe's second largest container port, was blocked by protesters and vehicles due to the road in and out of the port, which severely affected port operations and forced it to shut down.

The unexpected outbreak of protests paralyzed port operations, causing a massive backlog of cargo and affecting businesses that rely on the port for imports and exports.

The cause of the protests is unclear but is believed to be related to a labor dispute and possibly wider social issues in the region.

This has had an impact on the shipping industry, especially the recent attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea. Ships bound for Europe from Asia rounded the Cape of Good Hope, but when the cargo arrived at the port, it was unable to be loaded or unloaded in time due to strikes. This can cause significant delays in the delivery of goods and increase business costs.

Antwerp port is an important trading hub in Europe, handling large volumes of container traffic and is a key gateway for the movement of goods between Europe and the rest of the world. The disruption caused by the protests is expected to have a profound impact on supply chains.

A spokesman for the port said, roads are blocked in many places, traffic is disrupted and trucks are queuing up. Supply chains have been disrupted and ships that are now working beyond normal timetables are unable to unload when they arrive at the port. This is a matter of great concern.

Authorities are working to resolve the issue and restore normal operations at the port, but it is unclear how long it will take to fully recover from the disruption. In the meantime, businesses are urged to find alternative transportation routes and develop contingency plans to mitigate the impact of shutdowns.

As a freight forwarder, Senghor Logistics will cooperate with customers to actively respond and provide solutions to reduce customers' concerns about future import business. If the customer has an urgent order, the missing inventory can be replenished in time via air freight. Or transport via China-Europe Express, which is faster than shipping by sea.
