EU Customs Update: Product Identifier (PID) Requirement for B2C Shipments

The European Union has introduced new customs requirements for low-value B2C imports. These rules mainly affect parcels sent directly to individual consumers in the EU with a declared value not exceeding 150 EUR. Our DDP service channel is not affected by this update.

What is a PID?

PID stands for Product Identifier. It is a unique code used to identify specific products during EU customs clearance. From 1 November 2026, PID information will be mandatory for eligible B2C shipments.

There are three types of PID:

1. Merchant Product ID (M-PID)
A unique code used by the seller or platform, such as SKU, product code, item code, or ASIN.

2. Non-standardized Manufacturer Product ID (NS-PID)
A unique product code provided by the manufacturer or supplier, such as a factory model number or internal product number.

3. Standardized Manufacturer Product ID (S-PID)
A globally recognized barcode assigned by international standard organizations, such as GTIN, EAN, UPC, or ISBN. This is required only if the product already has such a code.

What You Need to Do?

To ensure smooth customs clearance and avoid delays, returns, or additional inspection risks, please prepare PID information in advance. Each product name on the commercial invoice should be clearly matched with its corresponding PID.
